The details

Terms & conditions

Draft for review. These are general booking terms prepared as a starting point and are not yet final. They will be confirmed against Confidence Africa's own policies before they apply to any booking.

1. Booking & confirmation

A booking is confirmed once we have received your deposit and issued written confirmation. By making a booking you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms on behalf of everyone in your party.

2. Deposits & payment

A deposit is required to secure your safari and any permits; the balance is due before travel. Because gorilla and chimpanzee permits and many lodges require prepayment, deposits covering these may be non-refundable once paid on your behalf. Exact amounts and dates are set out in your booking confirmation.

3. Permits

Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking permits are issued by the wildlife authorities of Uganda and Rwanda, are strictly limited, and are subject to their rules and prices. We purchase permits on your behalf once your dates are confirmed. Permit fees are set by the authorities and are separate from the safari package.

4. Changes by you

We will do our best to accommodate changes to a confirmed booking, but changes may incur costs charged by lodges, airlines or permit authorities, which will be passed on to you.

5. Cancellation

Cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellation charges apply on a sliding scale according to how close to departure the cancellation is made, reflecting non-refundable costs already committed on your behalf. The applicable scale is set out in your booking confirmation.

6. Changes or cancellation by us

Very occasionally we may need to change arrangements or cancel a trip — for reasons such as safety, weather, or circumstances beyond our control. Where this happens we will offer a suitable alternative or a fair refund of monies not already committed to third parties.

7. Travel insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is a condition of travelling with us. Your policy should cover medical expenses, emergency evacuation, trip cancellation and curtailment, and your personal belongings.

8. Health & fitness

Some activities, including trekking, require a reasonable level of fitness and mobility. You are responsible for ensuring you meet entry health requirements and for declaring any condition that may affect your participation.

9. Liability

We act as an organiser and book services with carefully chosen suppliers. We are not liable for loss, injury or damage arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, or from the acts or omissions of third-party suppliers. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Uganda, and any disputes fall to the jurisdiction of its courts.
