Day 1: Welcome to Uganda On your arrival at the airport, look out for your bird guide, he/she will be holding a placard with your name written on it. You will then be transferred to your hotel. Depending on the time of arrival, you might choose to rest or go birding right way at the Entebbe botanical gardens or the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre.
Day 2: Entebbe After an early rise, we will drive to Mabamba wetland searching for the rare and elusive Shoebill stork among others like the Lesser Jacana, Blue Swallow, Black-Shouldered Nightjar, Afep Pigeon, Blue Breasted Bee-Eater, Papyrus Gonolek, White Winged Warbler, secretary bird.
Day 3 & 4: Birding in Mabira Forest Mabira forest is the nearest forest reserve near the capital city of Uganda. We will be in search of the 315 bird species ever recorded with 74 of the species of the Guinea – Congo forests which are found in Uganda. Search for Nahan’s Francolin which is an IUCN Red list’ endangered species, Cassin’s Hawk-eagle, White-spotted Flufftail, Afep Pigeon, Grey Parrot, Dusky Long-tailed Cuckoo, Black-shouldered Nightjar, and many more.
Day 5: Lake Kyoga After early breakfast, you will set off to Eastern Uganda via Tiriny Road to Pallisa. Drive to Lake Kyoga Wetland for birding. This is the nearest site for the Shoebill, African kingfisher, Pelicans, weaver bird, egrets, swifts, sunbird, falcons, etc Spend the whole day birding in this wetland and the surrounding areas have a picnic lunch.
Day 6: Lake Bisina This morning after breakfast with parked lunch you will depart to Kumi and a boat ride to Tisai Island inside Lake Bisina and associated swamps for birding. This is the only place you may see birds such as African hornbill, Fox weaver bird, shoebill, pelicans, egrets, eagles, secretary bird, owls etc.
Day 07: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park Today you will rise at leisure, after breakfast we will set off to the largest national park in Uganda, Murchison falls national park, arriving in the afternoon, and check into your hotel.
Day 8: Game drive – birding – Launch cruise After an early morning breakfast, with packed lunch, we will go birding on a birding – game drive taking the best tracks expect to see a big number of savanna birds along with other wildlife. Among the many species you should expect include; The Secretary Bird, The Giant among others. In the afternoon, you will go for a 3 hour launch cruise on River Nile.
Day 9: Budongo Forest Reserve Early in the morning, you will be transferd to Budongo forest, a Prolific Birdlife sanctuary with two species not found elsewhere in East Africa: 10 of the 22 species of the Sudan–Guinea Savanna biome and 93 of the 144 species Guinea–Congo Forests biome that occur in Uganda have been recorded at this site. Rare species to catch here will include the Puvel’s Illadopsis, Nahan’s Francolin, and the Chocolate–Backed Kingfisher, White-headed Saw-wing, White Wagtail, Black-eared Ground-Thrush, Little Crake, Yellow-billed Barbet, Chestnut-capped Flycatcher and many more.
Day 10: Transfer to Entebbe This being the last day, we will bird your way to the airport.
